HP makes WebOS open source. Commits to getting back into tablet business in 2013
Flip Media has done a nice site refresh. So whats new?
Go on over and have a look. www.flipcorp.com
Yup, it’s out there and live. Now all the movie showtimes from Grand Cinemas, Reel Cinemas and Cinestar Cinemas in the UAE are on the iPhone. There is also a amazing mobile web version for those on other devices too.
So do check it out, download it and give us some feedback. We would love to hear from you all.
Finally, after what felt like ages we finally got our app approved in the app store by Apple (iTunes Link). It has indeed been a learning experience but it was so worth it in the end. The mumbaikar.com app is really the first stepping stone to getting everything of Mumbai mapped. With location aware functionalities we hope that this app will make it easier for the citizens to get information while on the go.
Check out Imthi’s blog article on the flip media website about the whole development process and all the pains it took to learn a whole new platform. Hopefully it will inspire you to write your own app too.
An impressive opening ceremony, but this renaming just doesn’t work! People of Dubai and around the world will always call it Burj Dubai. Why change a brand name to satisfy egos and politics. The amount of brand goodwill that will be lost on this is ridiculous. It took 6 years to reinforce the name globally only to have it changed overnight. Just doesn’t make good business sense. Also check out http://www.burjkhalifa.com. Someone is squatting on it. Good luck with getting that domain name.
I say we should start a petition to get the name changed back to Burj Dubai. If the move was done for unity then they should have called it Burj Emirates or Burj UAE. Besides, would you wear a tshirt that say Burj Khalifa?
Anyways, it will always be BD for Me! Check out the video for some of the highlights from the show. Sorry for the jittery camera work, but after a bit, didnt really care about taking a video anymore.
With the Burj Dubai opening today you would have thought they would have done a proper website launch as well. The new site, just doesn’t load, and is not even in sync with their brand identity. I am not being disgruntled that we didnt get the job, but this seems like a real last minute effort. The colours used are not as per the brand, and that wallpaper is so dated looking. Furthermore the site has not been properly tested either. I keep getting a cannot decode raw data error. Like @m4lvin tweeted – Visit http://www.burjdubai.com/ — The Slowest Website in the World
Thoroughly disappointed, hopefully the fireworks and the launch festivities will make up for it.
After a marathon team effort, the not for profit site for the Dubai Metro is now finally live. I hope this little contribution back to this great city helps in a little way. Really looking for some feedback and suggestions to make it better. Anyways, logon to www.mydubaimetro.com and give it a shot!

The Peace Day UAE website is live in record time! We just initiated the project last week and it is all ready and up there for the world to see. This has been a great collaborative effort across multiple agencies. Who says we all cant just get along
Thanks to the whole team behind this mamoth effort and looking forward to the screening of the film at The Scene Club tonight.
